Keeping Your Knife Clean

If you use your favorite knife at all, it's going to get dirty. In fact if you just carry your knife in your pocket it will get dirty from the lint in your pocket. If your knife is left sitting on your night stand in time it will start to rust from then natural humidity. So all knives should be cleaned periodically.
The items needed to clean your knife are a toothbrush, Q-tips, toothpicks, a very soft cotton cloth or two, alcohol, and fine oil.
Inspect your knife closely to see if it has any rust on it. If it does, put some oil on the rust spots and allow it to sit for a day or two. Then rub those spots with more oil and a soft cloth and the rust should come right off.
If your knife has dirt and grease on it the alcohol will help remove the dirt and grease. Use the alcohol, along with the toothbrush, toothpicks and Q-tips to clean the cracks and crevices of the knife, removing all the dirt and grime from the blades, handles, and working parts of the knife. If you use your knife to open boxes then the glue or adhesive will be on the knife blades. Alcohol will help remove this glue or adhesive. Once your knife is all clean remember to put a drop or two of fine oil in the joints of the knife. Then with your clean soft cloth, wipe off excess oil and finger prints that may be on the blades, implements and handles.
