Why Carry a Pocketknife?

By Laurence Thompson

Have you ever asked yourself this question, or maybe asked someone else the question, why they always carry a pocketknife? Well I was thinking about this and it occurred to me that maybe there are people who might wonder about this also. So I started thinking how much I use my knife, and the many things I would not get done if it weren't for my ever faithful pocketknife and I made a list of just a few.

I find that I use my knife to open letters and boxes that come in the mail. I use the scissors on my knife to cut string, paper, and coupons. I use the screw drivers, both flat bit and Phillips bit, to take apart and reassemble the computers I work on, to adjust the water level in the toilet tank, to adjust the fuel mixture on my gas trimmer, and to tighten the lens in my reading glasses. I have a digital clock, and barometer, on my knife so I can see what time it is and to tell if the rain is going to stop. My knife also has a thermometer on it so I can see why it is that I am feeling cold or hot. I use the LED light to find the tiny screw I dropped under my desk, while taking apart this broken computer for the third time. And I don't want to forget the most important tool on my knife, the toothpick, because I hate to floss my teeth, but the toothpick sure comes in handy.

So after a bit of reflection I see that my knife was used in all these many ways, today alone. When added up, on a day to day basis, it becomes very apparent that life is made much easier when I have my pocketknife with me every day.

If after reading this you find that maybe you need a pocketknife too, check out the great selection at Swissknifeheadquarters.
